The binary, figure-8 shaped System of Torivan is on the bottom right of the above map. The System's six planets only orbit Mondrikar – the primary, yellow star. Ganelon is the secondary and older, yellow star and has an Oort Cloud, smaller bodies and Heliosphere around it, but no planets. There's about 3.20 LYs between the stars. The Darskovian Empire resides on the only inhabitable world of Darskov (3rd planet). Since its people have so ill-used their planet that they live underground, they urgently seek other worlds to colonize -- interstellar travel is a new capability for them.
On the right is the Ladhara System -- the home of the Alliance. It's a single System with a yellow star, Thripaniswar, and contains nine worlds, two of which are inhabited. Since the Alliance's star is only 3 LYs away from the Torivan System's primary star, there is confrontation between neighboring people.
On the left is the Narthag System (called the Tilakantha by the Alliance). It's an ovoid, binary system, with the planets orbiting the twin Red Dwarfs of Moltar (Empire's name), or Laytidor (Alliance name) and Glizeer (Empire), or Asmita (Alliance). There are nine planets, with two inhabitable worlds. Currently, the Narthag System is unclaimed. While the Alliance has made an unknown amount of excursions, only their satellites tell of their passing. The Empire is eager to conquer this System -- its distance and the threat of war are impediments.
The Torivan System constitutes six planets, orbiting Mondrikar – the primary star. Mondrikar also has the Lordavin planetoid, which used to orbit Ganelon -- the secondary star, until it was knocked out of its trajectory and into the primary star's orbit millennia ago. This disruption also made asteroids collide above Darskov, which plunged the temperatures and created a fourth moon and the asteroid belt around the planet. The secondary star of Ganelon has smaller bodies; one of note is the planetoid of Slen, which houses the Empire's newest base -- Delta Base.
The new base, the construction of which Field General Huascar is overseeing, will be vital to access the Narthag System and will manufacture ships on site. Gamma Base is stationary in interstellar space, between the systems of the Empire and the Alliance. Betta Base, their second off-world installation, orbits within the System, between the 5th planet of Minijez and Tirgone, the 6th. Alpha Base is the oldest and stationary outside of the orbit of the 4th planet, Regalant.
Ladhara, the Alliance's System has nine planets, two of which are inhabited. Irix is the 3rd planet and home of the Irixians, the most recent addition to the Alliance. The 5th planet is Metta -- inhabited by two peoples: the Koru and the Neethrupi. Whereas the Koru are the youngest space-faring race, the Neethrupi are the eldest and founded the Alliance.
Sreegara is the mobile biosphere/base/capitol created by the Neethrupi. It serves as the seat of: the Anja League, the Elders, dignitaries and off-world militia, including the Sharban Force (called the One Force by the Empire.) Sreegara is mobile, orbiting within the Ladhara System, where it's most needed.
The Narthag System (called Tilakantha by the Alliance) is 10 LYs long and 1.5 LYs across its center -- larger than the other systems, but like the Ladhara, it has nine planets. The map is not to scale.
General Huascar implements the first manned investigation of Yamma, the 4th planet (with unstable resonances, electro-magnetic fluctuations and only primitive life). While uninhabitable, it was hoped that the planet could become a fuel source and installation site, to ease future explorations of the Narthag System. However, the excursion ends in calamity, which sets the stage for the Battle of Narthag (Chapter 8).
The Narthag System has two m-class planets. The Empire wants to claim the paradise-world of Astovar, the 6th planet. It's also interested in Traenant, the 5th planet, which is dominated by oceans and has many active volcanoes.
